WASHINGTON – Birguinea will hold an election on November 4th and will select Governor 75th. Incumbent Glenn Youngkin is not eligible for re-election. This year it was one of two open seat gubernatorial elections, with the other in New Jersey.

Virginia’s elections have always been unique as they occur a year after the US presidential election. The popularity of the incumbent president has always influenced the reputation of his party, which has been a factor in the governor’s race. Furthermore, as Virginia approaches Washington, D.C., the state of national politics will have a major impact on Virginia voters due to the large population of federal workers, contractors and military personnel. Therefore, race is often a way of measuring voter satisfaction with the presidential administration.
