Taiwan’s Mirror Fiction launches new venture to develop film and TV with $10m investment

Taiwan’s Mirror Fiction announced today (November 7th) at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) the establishment of Mirror Entertainment, a new venture aimed at developing film and television projects.

The venture was established in partnership with Taiwan Creative Content Authority (TAICCA). Mirror Fiction and TAICCA jointly invested $10 million (NT$310 million) in the venture. Additional partners include Ruen Tai Shing Co., Ltd. and Field Stone Investment Holding, Inc.

Mirror Entertainment aims to develop 10 films and TV series in the first five years. It will be led by Mirrorfiction CEO Tung Cheng Yew.

Chairman Tan said that Mirror Entertainment “tells stories that convey important messages that help viewers learn something along the way”, but that “at its core it is entertainment”. She also laid out the company’s international vision, saying, “We want to transcend national boundaries so that they become invisible and that audiences around the world can relate to our work.”

“We need international partnerships,” Tung continued. “We know the Taiwanese market, but internationally we can leverage each other’s resources to reach multiple markets.”

TAICCA CEO Wang Min-hui praised Mirror Fiction’s “excellent features and diverse and unique content that transcends cultural barriers.”
