In 2024, the Buccaneers were top four scoring attacks in the NFL. They were tied with the Philadelphia Eagles at 29.0 points per game. Additionally, the offense totaling 393.2 yards per game was third in the league.

Tampa Bay is hoping to be hit hard again in 2025. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are the top targets of Baker Mayfield’s attack. However, one rookie WR has given his name at training camp. First round pick Emeka Egbuka received praise for starting QB Baker Mayfield.

Early returns from rookie WR Emekae Gubka are positive for the Buccaneers

On the 19th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers selected Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State. The 22-year-old played all four of his college seasons for the Buckeyes. As a senior in 2024, Egbuka received 81 catches for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. Egbuka receives Ohio’s best ever reception (205) and yards (2,868).

Emeka Egbuka graduates from university as a sophisticated receiver with plenty of experience. On the Tampa Bay depth chart, Egbuka is WR3. Only Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are in front of him. They both were on the team for at least eight seasons. It speaks of the amount of how Buccaneers evaluate Egbuka. He is their future WR, and Dan Graziano of ESPN said he was “telling training camp.”

Head coach Todd Bowles said Egbuka’s knowledge is progressing for most players leaving college. This allowed him to quickly adjust to a professional life. Additionally, QB Baker Mayfield was impressed with Emeka Egbuka. He said Rookie WR is doing “things you can’t teach.”
