Lil Rel Howery directs the story of four estranged friends reunited in a seemingly typical home. Unknown to them, one friend is trying to steal a valuable antique. However, the place is a ghost and the group must overcome their differences in order to survive a naughty ghost night. Carl Reed also wrote the script and Howery.

The company produced it alongside the terrestrial film of death (Factory, Mr. Crockett), Robinwood7, and Rel Event Productions. This is Coven’s second production after the Canadian Exorcism thriller The shadow of GodIt was released on the Shudder streaming service in April.
The scheduled shooting remained flexible to allow the actor, a stand-up comedian, to appear on the weekend and make a comedy tour possible. At comedy clubs across Detroit, Haddish and the Bachelor surprised unsuspecting fans. “I loved filming in Detroit,” Haddish said. “History was around me, and there was no traffic.”
Michigan’s 42% production incentive ended in 2015, but producers wanted to film in the area to capitalize on historic locations, production values and local talent.
“By leveraging the established infrastructure and years of relationships within the community, we were able to increase production values and truly reflect the spirit of the city on-screen,” said Jesse Ford, producer who produced alongside Howery, Sean King O’Grady and Josh Feldman.
Coven’s Priscilla Ross Smith and Kendall Henrian serve as executive producers.
