Donald Trump arrived in Scotland primarily for private visits and for an official meeting with the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, during which they agreed to a full US tariff of 15% on all EU goods.

The US-EU trade agreement concludes a few months of tariff war deadlock and threats between the two world’s most important economic partners.

Trump said the 27-person block would open the market to US exporters with zero percent tariffs on certain products. It has been reported.

Von Der Leyen celebrated the deal and said it would bring stability to both allies.

“That’s quite a thing for everyone.”

“We’ve reached a deal, and that’s a pretty good deal for everyone,” said Trump, who has been visiting Scotland for five days. His words followed a brief meeting with the EC President. “It’s going to bring us closer.”

Under the agreement, the EU will increase its investment in the US by $600 billion (£446 billion), purchase hundreds of millions of dollars of military equipment and spend $750 billion on energy.

Von Der Leyen said that US investments in liquefied natural gas, oil and nuclear fuels will help reduce Europe’s dependence on Russia’s power sources.

“I would like to personally thank President Trump for his commitment to achieving this breakthrough and for his leadership,” she said. “He’s a tough negotiator, but he’s also a deal maker.”
