I’ve been wondering what the MMORPG version of Kingdom Come looks like. Lion Heart It seems to answer that question. This enduring medieval open world SIM blends historical strategies with large multiplayer battles and already achieves the goals of the Kickstarter campaign.
Set during the third crusades of the 12th century, the gorgeous new Mmorph Lionhearts enters the centre of the crusades and the Saracens. To conquer the holy land, you must grow the power of your chosen kingdom through your armies, trade, or religion.
However, it’s not just your influence that matters. Medieval games impose land expansion and evolution, build cities, manage taxes, manage financial resources, manage wallets, collect resources (either online or offline) to build bigger and better structures, and fuel the expanding kingdom.
Given that this is an MMORPG, other players go out looking for the same resources and power. The permanent open world of Lionheart means that each territory is owned by only one player, and the other lords will not waste time trying to take it from you.
Each game has a kingdom run by 12 players and four military orders, with real players controlling all positions of power, from the lord to the king. You can work with others to defeat larger, more dominant enemies, or head only to the top of the pile, but it can be difficult to hold that position.
Brute Force is one way to get into power, but the Lionheart deep trading system means boasting 14 guild types and 66 occupations.
Lionheart sounds really impressive, so it’s no surprise that it’s already surpassed Kickstarter’s goal of 73,354 pounds. However, the campaign is not over yet. There’s still more than a week left for this medieval SIM to achieve its bigger stretch goals. The ultimate goal is self-publishing ($4.8 million is required).
Although Lionhearts currently has no release date, the game has reached the goal of Lionheart Coliseum Stretch, allowing players to try out basic combat, targeting the Q4 2025 release.
I think this full release of medieval MMORPG will have some time off, so while you wait, check out the picks of the best war games and best strategy games.
