However, a sparkling claustrophobic sensation for early hours of the game will soon give way to absolute domination as you acquire more powerful abilities than ever before. The first thing that really touches you about Parkside is its LO-FI appearance. People look strange. The JPEG has grown to a block-shaped model. The world is dirty and covered in trash. Cyberpunk 2077 is gorgeous, but super slick. Parkside is like a distorted VHS copy of a strange day, all the distortion and hard edges. When many of our cyberpunk dystopias are drenched in bright neon, it is ugly, beautiful and impressive.
As for how it plays, the Parkside is easy to control and difficult to conquer. You move fast and the world is full of resources to exploit. But your body is fragile and police are everywhere. The gun has punches, but the recoil is out of control. The story is also intriguing. You play as a low hacker where the cult is the “illuminated brothers of the Conclave Automata” is the temptation. The cult deals with Alexander killing his enemies despite being far apart through a virtual reality interface. Like the best cyberpunk games, Parkside explores the questions of embodiment and control.
