Passengers initially believed that Southwest Flight was experiencing turbulence. It believed that the planes had surged rapidly and rapidly just after they took off from Hollywood Burbank Airport on their way to Las Vegas.
The crew “responded to two onboard traffic alerts… they requested that they climb and descent to comply with the alert,” Southwest said in officials statement.
According to CNNThe plane was almost intercepted by a privately owned Hawker Hunter Fighter Jet just five minutes later.
The jet crossed less than two miles ahead of its altitude within hundreds of feet, CNN reported, citing flight tracking data. We departed from El Paso, Texas, and flew to Oxnard, California. Initially, Southwest confirmed that two flight attendants were being treated for their injuries, but reported that no injuries were reported immediately by the client.
“It’s “going well” in Las Vegas.
“We are grateful for the professionalism of our flight crew and flight attendants in responding to this event,” a Southwest statement said. “For the Southwest, nothing is more important than customer and employee safety.”
“The flight followed Las Vegas and landed peacefully there,” the airline news agency added. “Southwest is working with the Federal Aviation Administration to further understand the situation.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it is investigating the incident. It’s coming less than a week after a similar near miss.
“Ensuring everyone at the National Airspace System remains our number one priority,” the FAA statement added.
I witnessed a near miss
Stand-up comedian Jimmy Door was on the plane and was one of the passengers, saying the volatile movement was largely due to a mistake with another plane.
“The pilot said his crash warning had gone and we needed to avoid the plane coming to us. Amazing.” I wrote it X. “The flight attendant needed to see a doctor.”
He said several people, including him, “strode out of their seats and hit their heads against the ceiling.”
Caitlyn Birdie said Fox News The passenger was “screaming” when the plane fell rapidly. “It was horrifying. We really thought we were plunging into a crash on the plane,” she said.
She added that the pilot then came to the speaker and said the plane nearly collided with another plane and lost contact with air traffic control.
Stef Zamorano posted a video of herself on X with the man next to her next to her.

The incident is less than a week since a flight in the Delta area from Minneapolis was forced to undergo a sudden evasion operation to avoid US bombers.
