The first Greed wasn’t an incredible game, but it was a solid effort in a much smaller studio Bioware-style RPG game that was able to capture some of the charms of classics like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. That sequel, Greed 2: A dying worldHowever, although not much praise last fall, our own review called “a lot of work needed” which was called “a buggy and boring mess.” The studio behind the game, Spiders, is actively taking that work as it progresses through early access.
Since Greedfall 2: The Dying World came out, Spiders has been plugging in with RPG games, bringing out patches like last month’s major update #1. Given that reviews for the early access launch pointed out hosts of technical issues that are worrisome the game, this kind of effort is a real opportunity to easily see what works with the basic design of Greedfall 2. Now it appears that the spider is focusing on combat overhauling, tweaking the UI and addressing bugs with the latest updates.
As a result of studio work, Greedfall 2’s reputation has been improved on Steam. The overall user rating is still 56% or “mixed” but the spider update appears to make the game a better shape. At the time of writing, he holds a rating of 71% or “almost positive.” This is a step up a few months ago.
