Amid the ongoing rift between the White House and the Federal Reserve, US President Donald Trump is currently investigating whether he has the ability to fire Chairman Jerome Powell. Trump began studying Powell’s potential to end his position on Friday, according to Kevin Hassett, the administration’s economic adviser.
The news follows an earlier statement made by Trump this week, expressing his dissatisfaction with the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cuts. Specifically, the president said the chairman “cannot close quickly enough.”

President Trump is studying whether he has the ability to fire the Fed chair, according to the White House.
Since his return, the White House and the Federal Reserve have been disagreementalized. In late March, President Trump was unhappy, but the institution chose not to lower interest rates. Now the opposite could be even worse, making the relationship sad.
Certainly, according to the White House, US President Trump is investigating whether he has the ability to fire Chairman Jerome Powell. In fact, economic adviser Kevin Hassett told reporters that “the president and his team will continue to study the issue,” according to a Reuters report.

Trump had accused Powell of “playing politics” in his Tillard against the chairman earlier this week. The statement came in response to institutions that refuse to cut interest rates, but the president said he has the power to eliminate Powell as “really fast.”
Additionally, Trump said under Powell’s leadership that the agency was “always too late and wrong,” but claims the country is “going rich on tariffs.” Conversely, Powell continues his agency’s waiting approach. He previously said he would “wait more clearly” amid the ongoing tariff war, before choosing to cut fees again.
