Three major Bollywood features set to shoot in UK for Yash Raj Films

Three Bollywood films from leading Indian film production and distribution company Yash Raj Films will be shot across the UK from early 2026, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced today (October 8).

Starmer is leading a delegation of film industry luminaries to visit Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai today. These works are estimated to create over 3,000 jobs and boost the economy by millions of pounds.

UK producer group Pact has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Producers Union to educate about what each country can offer and to share best practice, market information, tax credit reports, co-production information and relevant organizations in each region.

The British Film Institute (BFI) is on track to sign its own Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ film industries.

BFI’s Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with its Indian counterpart, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), to establish closer collaboration across film and the wider screen, fostering co-productions, wider audience access, cultural exchanges and support for film heritage.

India is the second largest source of inward investment spending in the UK’s film sector, accounting for a total of 7% of film production spending over the past decade and contributing £118 million a year to the UK economy.

Recent British films to be shot in India include: Santosh, sister midnight And Screen Star of Tomorrow 2025 Shalini Adnani’s untitled debut.

The British industry delegation to India includes BFI Governor Monica Chadha, filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, BFI Governor and Pinewood Studios Corporate Affairs Director Andrew Smith, British Film Commission CEO Adrian Wootton, Elstree Studios Acting Head of Studio Rebecca Hawkes, and Civic Studios Director of Impact and Partnerships Namrata Sharma.

The visit follows Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy’s visit to India in May, where a Cultural Cooperation Agreement was signed to foster further collaboration between creative companies and cultural institutions in both countries.
