Exclusive: Paris-based sales company Alpha Violet has acquired international sales rights Outsider, Lucia Allenal Iglesias is a Spanish film director based in Los Angeles. The film is set for its world premiere in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Discovery section.
The film is Lucia Allegna Iglesias’ first feature and also a follow-up to her short film. Outsiderwas selected as the week of Cannes Critics in 2020. It tells the story of a young woman whose family vacation is dramatically confused by the violent death of her grandmother, the act of which she is her only witness. As the strange summer unfolds, Kata begins to live in the role of grandmother, blurring the boundaries of reality and the perceptions of her family.
Allegna Iglesias developed the feature in the Critics’ Next Step Programme, taking part in La Recidense through Cannes Cinephondation, and won the Altequino Award in the MIA market.
The project is produced by Lastor Media, Vilaüt Films, La Perifèrica Producions, and Spanish Presents, Swedish Fox and Italian Kino Produzioni. Outsider Photographed in Mallorca. The Spanish cast includes Zoe Stein, Luluis Homar, Nuria Primes, Marta Angelat, Martina Garcia and Swedish actor Noni Ardal.
