Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025 will open along with the world premiere of Colin Hanks’ documentary John Candy: I like me.
50 opensth Edition of the festival at Reuthamson Hall on Thursday, September 4th.
The film explores the lives of Canadian actors and comedians Candy, using previously invisible home videos, family access and interviews with collaborators.
Candy rose to fame through comedy films in the 1980s stripe, Brewster millions and Airplanes, trains, cars. He passed away in 1994 at the age of 43.
I like me After 2015, it is the third documentary feature of Hanks, the son of actor Tom Hanks. Everything needs to go through And 2017 Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amy.
The film is produced by Colin Hanks under the company name for Amazon MGM Studios, for the company name with Ryan Reynolds. Prime Video will be released worldwide in the fall.
“Comedy fans around the world grew up with John Candy’s humor,” said TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey. “I love how John’s global career began in Toronto. Colin Hanks has made a very entertaining film packed with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but like John, this film is all about the heart.”
“People loved the qualities of all of his people, but they didn’t know how relevant John really was,” a statement from Colin Hanks and Reynolds said. “He went through the same struggles we all do, and now we’re talking about them.”
