On October 27, the Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the firing of U.S. Copyright Office Director Sheila Perlmutter.

The Copyright Office, a division of the Library of Congress, registers copyright claims, maintains information about copyright ownership, provides information to the public, and assists Congress and other government agencies with copyright-related matters.
