Director Kim Sadgett has been in the role since 2013. Trump says he will soon name the alternative.
WASHINGTON – On May 30, President Donald Trump announced that he had rejected the director of the National Portrait Gallery, a Washington agency known for hosting portraits of the US president and other artwork.
The National Portrait Gallery is part of the Smithsonian Association, and along with the American Museum of Art, displays portraits of all US Presidents, along with other notable artworks by American and foreign artists. Famously, the facility houses one of the four original “Lands Down portraits” of President George Washington, as well as the widely praised portrait of former President Barack Obama.
