Anchorage, Alaska – US President Donald Trump will depart Washington for Alaska early on August 15th, where he will hold a high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, bidding to end the battle for more than three years in Eastern Europe.

The summit will be held jointly with Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska’s largest military facility. The venue choice has historical weight as Alaska was part of the Russian Empire until Alaska bought it for $7.2 million in 1867.
