President Donald Trump has said he expects the 2026 midterm elections to be determined by perceptions of prices and economic progress, believing that easing inflation, lower energy costs and higher wages will be key to convincing voters and keeping Republicans in control of Congress.
“I think it’s going to be about the success of our country. It’s going to be about pricing,” Trump said in a Dec. 26 interview with Politico. “Because… they set us high prices and we’re lowering them. Energy is down a lot. Gasoline is down a lot.”
