US President Donald Trump said Thursday that within two weeks it will decide whether Washington will directly involve the troops in the conflict between Israel and Iran. Trump says two weeks will be enough to determine if a diplomatic solution is possible.
The conflict between Israel and Iran is on its eighth day, with both sides exchanging hundreds of missile strikes. Dozens of Israelis were killed in Iran’s strikes across the border, but Tehran suffered hundreds of deaths.
The conflict began early last week on Friday. Israel launched a surprising attack on Tehran, targeting military and nuclear sites. Israel says the decision to attack is to ensure its survival as it is increasingly concerned about Iran’s rapidly developing nuclear program.
It struck near the European Union delegation in Tel Aviv on Thursday, according to several sources consulted by Euronows.
The origin of the missile was not immediately clear, but it was presumed to be an Iranian projectile launched against Israel amid the current seventh day of military escalation between the two countries.
Two sources have been shown to be that the distance between the EU delegation and the strike is thought to be between 400 and 500 meters.
The strike took place on Thursday near areas with several European embassies, including those from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, North Macedonia, Ireland and Tel Aviv Savidor Central Railway Station.
A spokesman for the European Commission said the personnel were safe.
“While EU staff are not injured today, there are serious concerns about the Iranian attacks undermining diplomatic assumptions,” the spokesman said.
“Under any circumstances, there is no need to target or attack missions with foreign diplomatic staff.”
Previously, Israeli Defense Minister Katz threatened Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after Tehran struck major hospitals in southern Israel and struck home construction near Tel Aviv, causing injuries to at least 240 people.
The Israeli army “is instructed and I know that this man should never continue to exist in order to achieve all of that goal,” Katz said.
German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ease his approach to the conflict with Iran. According to German government sources, Merz emphasized the importance of a “diplomatic solution” to Israel.
On Friday, Germany is expected to permanently represent nuclear talks between its European partners and Iran’s foreign minister in Geneva.
Iran also doesn’t seem to want to back off as he vows to continue fighting to protect his land, people and sovereignty against the threat that Israel posed.
In an exclusive interview with the Euroneuz, the Iranian ambassador for UN Ali Baleni said Iran’s main priority is now to “stop the attack, stop the attack.”
“Personally, I can’t imagine there’s a strong probability of diplomatic ideas or initiatives at this point because it’s inappropriate for us to think about or talk about something at this point, rather than stopping the attacker,” Baleni pointed out.
However, he said Israel is not an “entity that someone can negotiate” and added that Tehran’s response must be determined to show Israel that it “cannot cross the red line against Iran.”
Bahraini also denounced the EU.
“I believe that the minimum Europeans can do is to denounce Israel very explicitly and stop support for Israel,” the Iranian ambassador and the permanent UN representative of Geneva Ali Baleni said in an interview with Euroneuz.
Speaking about the looming US attack amid Trump’s recent threat, Bahrain claimed Iran would respond firmly to Washington’s attacks on the land, adding that attacks on the US soil have not been off the table.
