On May 28, President Donald Trump said he answered a question from a Detroit News reporter in the Oval Office when he looked into whether the president’s pardon was appropriate for a man convicted in a 2020 lure plot targeting Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

“They were drinking and I think they said something stupid. I’ll see that,” Trump said in any way without committing. “And a lot of people are asking me that question from both sides.”
