President Donald Trump signed an executive order on July 24th banning “third-party, payments” payments to university athletes in order to tackle the “bid war” that recently involved university sports.
The “Save College Sports” order highlighted the 2021 Antimonopoly Act ruling from the Supreme Court and dropped restrictions on the National College Athletic Association’s transfer and recruitment rules. We then updated the rules so that players are paid for names, images, and likeness (nils) from third parties.
