U.S. Schools Awaiting Billions in Approved Federal Funding, Senator Says

Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) announced Monday that without detailed explanation, nearly $7 billion in previously approved K-12 federal funds for schools around the country are behind.

In a July 1 statement, Murray said the Trump administration proposed to eliminate several programs in its 2026 budget, ranging from English instruction for immigrant children to academic enrichment grants, after-school programs and adult literacy initiatives.
