Ubisoftdesperately needed a big victory, so I finally got one in the shadow of the Assassin’s Creed, but it delayed the open world game with two institutions, making sure I didn’t miss the mark of quality. We have clearly learned the right lessons from Shadows and announced that we will be delaying some of our “bigest productions” which are scheduled to release this fiscal year. Although it doesn’t specify a specific game, it means that you’ll be long to see new entries in the next Assassin’s Creed, Sprinter Cell Remake, and the Ghost Recon series.
As part of its plan to return from an overwhelming, underperforming game, Ubisoft is creating a brand new subsidiary in a partnership with Tencent, as we saw a few weeks ago. The Chinese giant is injecting more than $1 billion into this new venture. This will be responsible for Ubisoft’s three largest IPS: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six. The Ubisoft console, which takes care of all other things, is also trying to cut costs and rethink the process. This overall shakeup is seen giving more development time to some of the upcoming games that are scheduled to release this fiscal year, which will be held through April 2026, along with the positive results seen by pushing back the shadows of Assassin’s beliefs.
“After a thorough review of the pipeline that took place from October to December, the group decided to provide additional development time for some of the largest pieces in order to create the best conditions for success,” Ubisoft’s latest revenue report reads. “This decision has already been beneficial to the shadow quality of Assassin’s beliefs. As a result, 201026-27 and FY2027-28 will see significant growth in 2025-26, behind the strong content coming from the group’s biggest brands.”
This is speculative on my part, as Ubisoft doesn’t specifically name IP and projects being pushed back internally, but I can see that it affects Splinter Cell Remake (reportedly released in 2026) and perhaps it affects Assassin’s Creed Hexe (now without a release window, but not going back to 2022).
However, don’t expect new PC games from Ubisoft to disappear completely in the next 12 months or so. Two officially revealed projects that appear to be safe from delays are remakes of the strategy game sequels Anno 117 Pax Romana (2025 release window) and Prince of Persia the Sands of Time (2026 release window). Both of these are listed as games that Ubisoft is hoping to begin this fiscal year. It also states that other titles expected from this window will be “presented at a later stage.”
As Ubisoft has extended its development timeline, there are also some unconfirmed and rumored projects that may be waiting a little longer now. A report from Insider Gaming earlier this year claimed that a new Ghost Recon game is ongoing and is aiming to launch in 2025 or 2026. It is also said that the inevitable Far Cry 7 targets the 2026 launch, and the potential extraction shooter spinoff is also working on the same.
Other rumored Ubisoft games include the remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, a standalone AC multiplayer game, and the powerful Apex Legends Vibes battle royale. However, given that Ubisoft is in the process of reorganizing and cutting costs, we know if and when these will be announced and released.
