Rainbow Six Siege X Developer Ubisoft promises to implement “significant changes across account security, anti-cheat, and anti-toxicity systems” for the tactical multiplayer game’s 11th year. Developers have warned that the R6SX Marketplace is likely to remain inactive for “several months” as the cleanup from the recent cyberattack continues. Plans for 2026 include implementing official mouse and keyboard support for console players and an initial rollout of Secure Boot for Top of the Ladder, a new “competitive playlist.”

The Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 will introduce “additional security measures” including “app-based two-factor authentication for key features such as Ranked Play and Marketplace.”

Siege’s in-game marketplace was disabled as part of Ubisoft’s response to the attack, but will remain in place for the foreseeable future as the developer implements “stronger account security, enhanced fraud detection, and sophisticated economic controls.” “We expect this work to take several months. Our teams are working aggressively to implement these protections as quickly as possible to help our markets reopen safely and securely.”

Ubisoft acknowledged that Year 10 Season 4 saw a “spike in player concerns across social channels regarding cheating, especially among the highest ranked players.” The company said it has strengthened its R6 Shieldguard platform “through expanded teams, improved tools, and faster response capabilities.” In addition to this, it introduces a new layer of protection built around system-level Windows Secure Boot functionality.

Initially, this new branch of Shieldguard will be used for Siege X’s new Top of the Ladder playlist. This playlist is now in its 11th year and is scheduled to launch in the midseason update for Season 2. It is designed for the “best of the best” and you must reach Champion rank in the current season to participate. “Cheating has the greatest impact at the highest level of play,” Ubisoft explains. “By bringing the R6 Shieldguard Secure Platform here, we will be able to validate both effectiveness and player experience under the most demanding conditions.”

The Shieldguard Secure Platform rollout will begin with limited testing, followed by a “full rollout to eligible players in the Top of the Ladder playlist.” Ubisoft says this will “strengthen the system, improve reliability, and allow us to clearly communicate with players before considering broader deployment.” If it’s successful, we’d expect it to eventually roll out to other modes, especially considering rivals like Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Ark Raiders, and Valorant use Secure Boot.

In addition to these anti-cheat measures, Ubisoft is also considering taking “stronger measures” against boosters and smurfers. This includes targeting “players who intentionally team up with cheaters, participate in account sharing, or use secondary accounts to sabotage lower ranks.” It also aims to build on the live moderation and reputation systems introduced in Year 10, promising “improved reporting feedback, clear visibility into moderation actions, and continuous improvements to live text and voice moderation.”

Console players have official mouse and keyboard support, and using it will put you in the “PC Input” matchmaking pool. As a result, cases of input spoofing that involve the unauthorized use of such devices will be dealt with more severely. Finally, the team said it plans changes to the way abandonments work with the aim of “reducing match avoidance at higher ranks while avoiding unfair penalties caused by technical issues.”

The reveal of Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege Apparently Solid Snake, the best collaboration of the year, is also scheduled to appear, so I’ll be watching with interest.
