Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Mr. Zelensky was scheduled to leave Poland on Saturday, first stopping in Canada to meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney.

On Sunday, the leaders of the United States and Ukraine are scheduled to meet at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida to discuss the Kiev peace plan.

President Zelenskiy announced that the talks would focus on security and territorial issues, adding that the 20-point plan currently under consideration was “about 90% ready.”

Ukraine’s president also said he wanted to put ways to put additional pressure on Russia on the table, and that an “economic deal” would be on the table, but he could not confirm “if anything will be finalized by the end.”

Moscow has demanded that Ukraine hand over the rest of its territory in Donbass (a term referring to the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions), but Ukraine has refused.

President Zelensky said Ukraine “wants European countries to participate,” but expressed doubts about whether that would be possible at such short notice.

Meanwhile, Russia launched a massive nighttime airstrike targeting Kiev, killing at least one person and injuring dozens, leaving a third of the Ukrainian capital’s residents without electricity or heat in freezing temperatures.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported 559 drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, and claimed to have destroyed or suppressed 503 of them.
