Exclusive: Sci-fi documentary directed by Suzanne Brandstetter I’m hungry, It had its world premiere in the Harbor section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), and was sold by Impronta Films in the UK.
The documentary unfolds like a science fiction movie, with a mysterious being discovering the extinction of humanity and setting out into the world to find out what happened. While searching for clues, this being creates a film based on interviews it conducted with scientists before its extinction, exploring themes such as the destruction of food security, the deterioration of labor markets, the takeover of democratic governments, and the global decline of democracy.
I’m hungry The film was produced with support from the Austrian Film Institute and ÖFI+, the Vienna Film Fund, the ORF Film/Television Agreement and Lower Austrian Culture, and participated in ProPro, an international initiative to strengthen female producers, and the Market Ready International Screen Institute in Vienna.

“The fact that this film is set in a near future without humans may seem gloomy and pessimistic, but the opposite is true,” said Austrian-American filmmaker Brandstätter. “Because this film has a positive message. And although my films often show the dark side of humanity, I am an inveterate optimist. I believe that films, especially this film, can influence and inspire people.”
