The United States approved major arms sales worth $6.67 billion to Israel and $9 billion to Saudi Arabia, strengthening the defense of key allies as tensions with Iran persist and the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip becomes fragile.

The State Department announced the approval late Friday after notifying Congress earlier in the day. The packages are aimed at strengthening security in the Middle East, where the Trump administration is pushing to rebuild Gaza after two years of war that has killed tens of thousands of people.
