The president called for the High Court to intervene after a lower court judge ordered the administration to revive thousands of probation workers.

For now, the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a move to revive federal workers fired by the Trump administration, handing the victory over President Donald Trump, who is working to reduce the government.

Trump called for the High Court to intervene after lower court judges were fired earlier this year and ordered thousands of probation workers to return to work.

The Supreme Court’s decision submitted to Judge Elena Kagan on Tuesday was not final and the appeal has been pending in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

“If you refuse certiorari, this stay will automatically end,” her order said. “If the certificate is granted, the stay shall end upon the judgment of this court.”

Supreme Court judges Ketanji Brown Jackson and Sonia Sotomayor wrote that they denied a Trump administration petition to deny a lower court order.
