Rangers rookie sensory Victor Mancini could be lined up to make his debut in the season-opening match against Pittsburgh this week, with a big 22-year-old season expected.

Mancini was impressed with the Rangers preseason tour, and following Monday’s practice, it was confirmed that the New York star could face the Penguins this week.

As to whether he should make his debut against the Penguin and how he responds, Mancini admitted that he is just as emotional as anyone making his NHL debut.

“I think I lose a little because of the words,” Mancini said. “Whenever the first game might be, it’s very special to share it with my family. Share that moment with them is the best part for me.”

“It’s obviously something very special. This is at the level you want to be and everyone wants to go. To get this flavour at training camp and see where you want to be, it definitely motivates you.

“You want to stay here and be at the highest level, play with the highest level players.”

Mancini will partner with Zack Jones on the right during practice this week, and the pair will begin their season together in New York.
