Alex Ovechkin is trapped in Wayne Gretzky’s goal record in the NHL, and says Ice Hockey legend is quickly overtaking the goal record in favor of him.

Alex Ovechkin is locked up in the NHL goal record

Wayne Gretzky currently holds a record of most goals scored in NHL history, but Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is trapped in a record with 894 goals.

Ovechkin has only 44 goals left from the record at the beginning of the season, but it seems to be a matter of time before Russia takes over from Gretzky as the league’s leading goalscorer.

Ovechkin is locked up in a notable record, but Gretzky often said he would give him advice on his game and help him during the recession.

“If that kind of person is rooting for me, it’s pretty cool,” Ovechkin said. “He’s the best player out there and he’s a great person. He supports me and that’s pretty cool.”

“I hope he gives me advice when it gets closer, but that’s not the case yet.”

I think Greetzky wants to hold his score record forever, but NHL legend confesses that he is not bothered and understands that Ovechkin will soon break his record.

“Of course,” Gretzky said last month. “Late this year, and anytime early next year, he’s a great player. He’s a great goal scorer.”

The only thing that can stop Ovechkin from breaking his goals scored may be his age, but the 39-year-old is now more than ever in his 20th year in the league.

“Well, this is my 20th year,” he said. “You think I put weight on my shoulders, and are you guys going to think about how I play? No.

With two goals in his first six games of the season, Ovechkin got off to a slow start, but there’s plenty of time left in the campaign, and the Russians have solidly put his eyesight on the record.
