“I stand on the world outside the universe and stratospheric capsules,” he recalled. “I looked around the sky above me and it turned completely black. I was really trying to suck in the moment. … You were sitting there so when I came back several times, I shed tears in my eyes.
He also described the 800mph autumn difficulties, noting that it was “very uncomfortable.”
“You’re totally lacking in mobility. It always feels like you’re breathing from the pillow,” Baumgartner explained. “You are completely separated from the outside world. So when the visor goes down, all you can hear is that you yourself breathe.”
