One of the most recognizable names in hip hop is Shawn “Diddy” comb– Caregiver known as P. Diddy – has established a star-studded network throughout the world of music, film, fashion and business. His influence was unparalleled in the late 90s and 2000s when he began hosting famous luxury white parties.
In a 2006 interview Oprah WinfreyDiddy explained that the purpose is to “remove everyone’s images and put all of us on the same level of the same colour.” Martha Stewartwho attended the first party called it a “stellar view.”
Initially held at the Hamptons, the White Party became one of entertainment’s most coveted invitations until it was suspended in 2009. However, in 2025 Diddy is in federal custody in New York due to a highly publicized trial on sex trafficking charges. With additional civil lawsuits that accus him of abuse and misconduct, the legacy of those iconic political parties, and the celebrity circles surrounding them, are being reexamined under a much darker lens.
