1. Silea rose to fame with her debut single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” at just 16 years old.
The rapper, and just high school student released his biggest song on SoundCloud in 2015 (he was working on the song with Beatsmith) Production rags). “I listened 1,000 within the first day. The next day I was 4,000,” Silento wrote on his website, so he decided to drop the music video for his song on his 17th birthday in January 2015. The video has now seen more than 1.7 billion times, and the song itself peaked at number three on Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart.
2. Despite signing on a big label, Silento decided to finish the rest of his high school experience.
The success of “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” signed a deal with Capitol Records, but he didn’t go on the homeschool route afterwards. “I didn’t experience a lot when a new artist was first signed. A certain event, a performance. I was still in school and working to get my diploma,” Silento also wrote on his website.
3. You’ve probably heard of Silento on this other hit song too.
After starting his music career with Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), Silento worked on collaborating with other artists. One of his most notable collaborations was “Dessert.” dawn. The original song was dropped in March 2015, but Silento boarded for the music video released in October 2019.
4. He followed up the success of his debut single on his first album, A fresh outta high school.

The rapper also used his new fame to visit the children’s hospital and “has been honored by Mayor of Augusta, Georgia for his charity within Atlanta,” according to the Silento website. In 2019, he partnered with dosomething.org’s “The Hit Well Weall Take” campaign against e-cigarettes, steam and juilling.

5. Silento was arrested in 2020 on three separate occasions.
He was arrested twice in August 2020 in two days. One of the arrests was reportedly “hatching two strangers last weekend and threatening them.” Hollywood Life. The rapper was facing “counting two felony attacks with a deadly weapon on allegations of using hatch as a deadly and dangerous weapon,” the report added.
