Who was among the top Iranian officials killed in the Israeli strike?

Since the Israeli-Iran conflict began on Friday, Israel has killed several high-ranking members of Iranian leadership.

Sixteen people have been confirmed to have been killed, but more than 20 senior officials (IRGCs) and other commanders in Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard were among those targeted in the Israeli attack.

Mohammad Bagheli

Bagheri, the Iranian military’s chief of staff since 2016, was killed on an Israeli missile strike on Thursday night, at the very beginning of Israel’s attack on Iran.

He is one of the highest ranked officers of the Iranian army and ranks second only after the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He coordinated the Iranian army – both the army and paramilitary organizations, playing a central role in shaping the military doctrine of the regime.

Hossein Salami

Salami, commander of the IRGC, was also close to Iran’s highest leader, Ali Khamenei. Salami was one of the most difficult in Iranian rivals, especially Israel and the United States.

An early member of the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) combatants and revolutionary guards, Salami served as an aide to the organization for nine years before becoming commander in 2019.

Gholamali Rashid

Rashid was the deputy commander of the military and head of the IRGC’s Khatam-Al Anbiya central headquarters, and was responsible for coordinating joint military operations.

He is also a veteran of the Iran-Iraq War, and welcomed the fact that Iran had regional allies against Israel and the United States, such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houtsis.

Ali Hajiji

Hajizadeh was the commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force. He led the Iranian missile program and was responsible for the missile attacks against Israel in April 2024.

Mohammad Kazaf

Kazemi, an innovative security guard’s intelligence news, was killed on an Israeli strike on Sunday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his death that night in an interview with US television channel Fox News. Tehran confirmed the news a few hours later.
